Welcome back to Aotearoan soil a Mr. Max Stowers – bassist par excellence. He’s doin’ some gigs with Mr Dixon Nacey that simply should not be missed under any circumstances…..
Live Jazz 6 piece on Wednesday at sky city casino, bar 3 from 7.30 till 11.30, every week (pending recent restructuring of the casino entertainment budget) – we need bums on seats and drinks in hands to keep this gig going so please come one and all!!
Check out the
CAC calendar for great live jazz every week – staunch supporters of the ever growing Auckland jazz scene. I’ll be doing duos each Monday with the either Max Stowers or Kevin Haines (bassists extraordinaire!!!) and every Tuesday with the CAC trio. Also see the likes of Kevin Field, Oliver Holland, Ron Samson, Frank Gibson Jnr and his trio, Will McClure, Alberto Santerelli, Ben White, Jo Shum to name just a few of the great jazz artists who appear there regularly. As well as this there’s sumptuous food and drink to be had in this classy, ambient venue. C.A.C. is on Normanby Road, Mt Eden. PDF calendar on the website.
And of course the stalwart of the Auckland covers scene – KICK – is still kicking on after 456,780 odd years and 8.4 million gigs, check out either
cockandbull.co.nz or
kick.co.nz for gig venues and dates.
Other special gigs to look out for: I’ll be doing a FREE (yes FREE, did I mention FREE) public concert with the Nathan Haines Super Band @ Bar 3, Sky City on May 17th as part of the NZ music month. The same band will be playing at the Queenstown Winterfest at the end of June so keep your ears and eyes peeled for more info.
